How did the Ottoman Empire's triumph over Constantinople lead to rise in Muslim power?

Constantinople was on the other side of the Black Sea, in what is sometimes called the European side, so the Ottoman Empire had easier access to the Black Sea countries but could conquer the other countries past Constantinople. Ths happens to have left a legacy, to us today, of quarrelling states in the Balkans and around the Black Sea itself.
