What are the chances that an angel investor will steal my ideas AFTER the NDA?

Obviously we would sue them and win, but is an NDA really that much of a deterrent? They could take our ideas and slightly alter them, then claim that they came up with it - hire their panel of lawyers to defend them, and the un-wealthy guy is screwed. I don't have money for patent and trademark fees.
