Train ticket's help please?

i need to get from Leeds to Peterborough by train, if i book my train ticket to go on the 14th of november and the return 18th, is the return ticket valid between the 14th and the 18th? as i may need to come back a day early,this is by east coast express any help appreciated, thanks.
