Palestine: The Sovereign State?

After many questions i have posed to pro-Palestinian supporters, I have finally come to a conclusion as to why there is so much stubbornness on their part. They honestly believe that there was a utopian country called Palestine which was in existence for thousands of years, and that the Jews, following the Holocaust, swooped in and stole land from the sovereign state of Palestine. So my questions are as follows: If this is all true, who were the leaders of the government of Palestine? What form of government was it? What was their currency? How was their language, culture and infrastructure different from those of Syria and Jordan? What were the borders of Palestine? What year was Palestine established, and by whom? If territory was taken from Palestine in 1948, why didn't the Palestinians ask for any form of statehood until 1964 with the formation of the Palestinian Liberation Movement? Thank you.
