Does being overweight keep you warm?

so me and my BF are both 15. we were hanging out it was cold and rainy and i was freezing it felt like it was 10 degrees out. i asked my BF if he was cold and he said he was warm so i snuggled up to him and he was really warm and he kept me warm. im 5'0 and 100 pounds and hes 5'7 and 230 pounds. just asking does body fat keep you warm.
